Bidders responding to the October 16, 1995 or the November 15, 1995 CBD ad with the required information need not request documents again as you are listed to receive a copy of the solicitation. Items processed are textiles in a variety of blends common to VA use and include surgical linens, patient clothing, employee uniforms and bed linens. Estimated weekly soiled poundage is approximately 50,000. The laundry operates five days per week, Monday through Friday, including Federal holidays and provides 24 hour return service. Contractors must comply with VA, Center for Disease Control (CDC), Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for sanitation, infection control and safety standards. This synopsis is published to determine the commercial availability of laundry processing service for the Minneapolis VAMC. Unless potential responsible firms can be identified with an interest in performing the services, the VA will consider that adequate commercial sources do not exist and no solicitation will be issued. In the event a solicitation is issued, it will be subject to a government cost comparison to determine the economic feasibility of performing the work in-house or by contract. Contract award will depend upon the outcome of the cost comparison study in accordance with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-76 Cost Comparison Handbook, Part 1, Chapter 2 in addition to applicable acquisition regulations. Firms having the ability to perform the required work are invited to submit a statement of interest including a description of the firm's management, personnel, previous experience on performing work of this or similar nature, whether the firm is a small business concern, and certify that all requirements can be met. Firms interesed in providing this service must respond in writing prior to January 24, 1996. Faxed requests are NOT acceptable. This constitutes the third notice. (0354)
