Army Natick Research, Development and Engineering Center is conducting
a MARKET SURVEY to identify firms with the capability of producing
Compression Sacks. The U.S. Army needs to provide the individual
soldier with a compression sack that is designed to reduce the packed
bulk of individual items of clothing and equipment. The required
salient characteristics are summarized as follows: Compression Sack
shall be cylindrical in shape with a height not to exceed 22 inches and
a diameter not to exceed 14.5 inches, when empty. Compression Sack
shall be constructed with water-repellent nylon material. Waterproof
material is desired. Compression Sack shall have a top opening capable
of being closed with a drawstring with cordlock closure. Compression
Sack shall have a closed bottom with a sewn-in grab carry strap. The
strap width shall be at least 1 inch wide. The strap shall be
reinforced, double-stitced and bartacked to the compression sack. The
exterior surface of the Compression Sack must be dull and
non-reflective. The color of the Compression Sack must be compatible
with the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU). A BDU pattern is desired.
Compression Sack shall have three sewn-on nylon compression straps
(four are desired). Each strap shall be at least 2 inches wide.
Compression Sack must be compatible with the currently fielded and
developmental load carrying systems. Straps shall be affixed to
Fast-Tex type fasteners. Interested firms must forwrd descriptive
literature to Mr. Paul F Borges within 30 days after publication of
this notice. The response should also include information about the
company's facilities, whether the company is small business (500
employees or less), women owned or socially and economically
