(317)306-3066 This is a market survey requesting information to satisfy
a requirement for a VHS format data recorder system capable of
providing storage means for video information. This item will be used
in a US Navy airborne, 20 inch diameter podded, electronic
countermeasure system. The Navy intends to investigate availability of
qualified sources that have a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) or
non-developmental item (NDI) that can be used in a cost effective
manner. Potential vendors must have an VHS recorder assembly that meets
the following criteria: a) Provides up to 2 hours of VHS video storage/
2 audio channels, and, b) Operate in an airborne pod environment
including carrier take-offs and landings. Responding parties should
provide a description of their proposed hardware, identify its present
utilization, status of production, qualification, lead time, and
production cost predicated upon an initial procurement of 3-4
engineering models beginning in FY-98. Only written responses will be
accepted as this market survey is for informational and planning
purposes only and does not constitute a request for bids or proposals
and is not to be construed as a commitment by the government nor does
the government intend to pay for any expense incurred by any of the
