The specification provides the requirements for the AN/SRC-55 Hierarchical Yet Dynamic Reprogrammable Architecture (HYDRA) Portable Radio Communications systems. The system is commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) ``modified'' trunking land mobile radio (LMR) equipment. The system provides portable radio communications for flight deck operations, damage control, security and general administrative requirements on board U.S. Navy ships and stations. The system is digital, trunking RF repeaters, encrypted portable and mobile radios that operate at 400-430 MHz; RF distribution systems; a multi-level pre-emption and prioritization (MLPP) capability for flight deck applications; flight deck announcing system and helmet interfaces; uninterruptable power supplies; battery chargers and conditioners; an RF wide area network (WAN) for multi-unit collocated operations.
