A -- MK30 MOD 2 ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING DEVELOPMENT PHASE SOL N00024-96-R-6106 POC A. R. Ketchum, Contracting Officer (703) 602-7707. The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to award a sole source contract to Raytheon Electronic Systems, 1847 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871-1087 for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (E&MD) phase of the MK30 Mod 2 ASW Training Target. Raytheon is the Demonstration and Validation (D&V) phase contractor of the MK30 Mod 2 and possesses the unique experience and capability to continue with their design through the E&MD phase. The approved Program Structure calls for close coupling of the D&V and E&MD phases to allow for continuous design evolution and a seamless transition from D&V to E&MD. The E&MD phase will consist of continued evolutionary design, fabrication, and testing of the D&V Advance Development Model of the MK30 Mod 2 vehicle; building and testing up to three Engineering Development Models of the MK30 Mod 2 target vehicle and the associated Support and Test Equipment; Developmental and Operational testing on the Navy's underwater ranges; development of a Technical Data Package sufficent for support planning and spares procurement; Design refinement including enhanced manufacturability, and Engineering/Logistics support for an interim operational capability. A solicitation will be issued to Raytheon Electronic Systems on or about 15 Feb 96 for the MK30 Mod 2 E&MD phase (approximately four years duration). No additional synopsis will be published. (0003)
