In order that potential sources may learn of the interest in a specific requirement, an advance notice is published here. The Savannah, Georgia, District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has Land Mobile VHF Radio Systems providing mobile communications to its lake projects. It is desired to replace this technology with a more versatile voice and data-friendly technology. Cellular telephone technology has been selected. The projects requiring this service are J. Strom Thurmond Lake, Richard B. Russell Lake and Hartwell Lake, all located in the upper Savannah River Basin of Georgia and South Carolina. The service shall be provided by a single source. It shall include service management, connectivity with generally available features, supply and maintenance of telephones, etc., and monthly usage listings. The quantity of cellular phones to be supplied is approximately 200, each phone's daily usage is estimated to be 55 minutes. The usage area will be the subject lakes and roads and highways providing access to the lakes. Firms having the capabilities necessary to meet the above requirements are invited to submit sales literature addressing these capabilities. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation.
