The Postal Service is issuing a request for proposals for the design/build of a dock expansion at the Philadelphia Bulk Mail Center (BMC), 1900 Byberry Rd, Phila PA 19116-9997. The size of the expansion is approximately 106 feet by 435 feet for a total of approximately 46,000 GSF, and is located on the northern side of the existing building. Requirements for the expansion include: 1) protection of the existing utilities; 2) demolition of the 6250 SF free-standing storage building; 3) lowering the grade at and around the new addition; & 4) installation of retaining walls. The construction cost is estimated to be between four & five million dollars. A Preproposal Conference will be held on Wednesday, 2/7/96, at 10:00 AM in the 2nd Floor PEDC Conference Room at the project facility. A minimum of 5 years experience in masonry, concrete & excavation work is required. Maximum number of days for project completion is 160 calendar days from receipt of the Notice to Proceed.
