Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899. Lockheed Martin Space Operations
(LMSO), a NASA Prime Contractor at Kennedy Space Center, FL (KSC),
seeks sources capable of providing design, fabrication, assembly,
cleaning, painting, testing and delivery of two (2) cooling tower
condensor water prefilters. Both units are to be delivered in FY96.
Each unit shall have the ability to accept water from the cooling tower
and retrun with a permeate not to exceed 1.3 mg/1 Ca., 24 mg/1 Na., 15
mg/1 Hc03, 3 mg/1So4, 28 mg/1 Si02 and 0 mg/1 K, Mg., NH4, Ba., Sr.,
Co3, F, and No3. The TDS is not to exceed 77 with a pH in the range of
4 - 5. Permeate flow shall be 75 - 80 gallons per hour (GPH). Feed
water entering the prefilter is expected to be potable water supplied
by the Cocoa, FL municipal water system that has been cycled up to a
maximum of 10 cycles. Potential prefilter supply is expected to be as
follows: 277 mg/1 Ca, 8 mg/1 Mg., 1050 mg/1 Na., 1010 mg/1 Cl., 140
mg/1 Si02, and 0 mg/1 K, NH4, Ba., Sr., C03, F, and No3. TDS is
expected to be 4125 mg/1 with a pH range of 5.5 - 6.5. Replacement
elements shall have a life expectancy of 3 - 5 years with less than 5%
loss in operating efficiency. The prefilter shall be capable of
accepting on/off commands from a local Programmable Logic Controller
(PLC) as well as provide data to the PLC. Data shall include, but not
be limited to, operating pressure, filter media health, permeate output
in GPD and Langelier Sat. iIndex. Any chemicals to be added to the
water shall be approved by LMSO Engineering, automatically input and
monitoried. MSDS sheets shall be provided for all chemicals expected to
be used. It shall be the responsiblity of the successful offeror to
obtain samples of the Cocoa water as well as water from the cooling
tower basin in such quantity as required to support design and
fabrication of the prefilter and to assure successful operation. This
synopsis is for the sole purpose of identifying prospective sources and
