The Air Force intends to purchase COMNET III Software on a Sole Source Basis, from CACI Products Company who possess the proprietary and data rights to the software. Paper evaluations of other known products revealed that only COMNET III provided the Lan performance monitoring tool required to aid in managing Strategic War Planning System (SWPS) and Intergrated Processing Facility (IPF) networks. The software displays snapshot and historical performance statistics and response times between PCs and file servers, PCs and gateways, PCs, and the mainframe. It also provides a variety of user-selected statistics, reports with output to both printer and a file. The tool must be compatible with a token ring LAN running Novell Net Ware with DOS 6.2, or higher, running on IBM compatible 486 PCs and interfaces with SWPS Network Performance Analysis Comm Package. The performance period is one calendar year from date of purchase and includes software maintenance support and upgrades. Note 22 applies with the exception of 15 days in lieu of 45 days. (0011)
