The Western Area Power Administration of the Department of Energy has a requirement for digital microwave radios. The estimated quantity is 25 radios per year, for up to a five year period. The Government intends to negotiate a requirements-type contract, for a base period plus additional option year periods of up to five years. The requirement is for digital 3 DS3 capacity microwave radios operating in the 7.125 to 8.500 GHz band. In addition to the hardware requirements, the contract will include an option for services. It is anticipated that one award will result from this solicitation. The solicitation will be issued o/a February 12, 1996. This acquisition will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 12 - Acquisition of Commercial Items.
