as a basis in which to formulate a reply to this notice. The
Sacramento Air Logistics Center is seeking to identify sources that can
provide maintenance services for two Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometers
(SIMS). Their descriptions and maintenance requirements are as follow:
The Camerca IMS3f and Cameca IMS4f Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometers
were designed and built by Cameca Instruments, Inc. They are operated
by the Air Force Technical Applications Center, McClellan Central
Laboratory, McClellan AFB, California. The systems consist of an ion
source, primary optical system, secondary optical system, measurement
system, imaging system, computer control system, sample positioning
system, cooling system and vacuum system. The ion source consists of an
oxygen and argon duoplasmatron and a cesium microbeam source. The
primary optical system consists of a primary beam control chassis, high
and low voltage power supplies, faraday cup preamplifier. The secondary
optical system consists of a secondary beam control chassis and low
voltage power supply. The measurement system consists of a measurement
chassis, detector power supply, electron multiplier tube and
preamplifier, and a faraday cup and preamplifier. The imaging system
consists of a channel plate, phosphorescent screen, TV camera,
monochromatic display, and resistive anode encoder subsystem designed
by Charles Evans and Associates. The computer control system consists
of a Hewlett Packard Vectra PC, two color monitors, two printers,
plotter and system control software written by Charles Evans and
Associates. The sample positioning system consists of an airlock
assembly, stage, holder, motor control chassis and joystick controller.
The cooling system consists of an Eheim fluid pump, associated plumbing
and water chillers. The vacuum system consists of two turbomolecular
pumps, two ion pumps, cryopump, rough pumps and associated power
supplies and control modules. These systems are approximately eight
years old. On-site preventive and remedial maintenance services are
required to perform field and component level repair of these systems.
Maintenance personnel will require knowledge and experience in digital
and analog electronics, ion optical systems, video camera systems, ion
microprobes, high vacuum systems, ion beam measurement devices and
Cameca systems interface with Charles Evans automation packages. If you
are interested in obtaining the performance work statement and
equipment lists, please submit your written request to the address
below. If you are interested in submitting the documentation of
qualification to support your capability for consideration as a source
