command (NAVAIR) intends to award a contract to LEAR Astronics (LAC) of
Santa Monica, CA for the acquisition of two Modular Integrated Avionics
Group (MIAG) with P/Y CODE GPS and MODE IV IFF for use on DOD Unmanned
Aerial Vehicles (UAV's). MIAG is a highly integrated UAV flight
avionics package with capabilities of flight and engine control,
navigation guidance, and payload control. The Government intends to
integrate the MIAG into the Pioneer/Hunter UAV for demonstration of the
MIAG's operational capabilities. LEAR Astronics Corporation is the
designer, developer and sole producer of this specialized unique
product, and as such is the only known source which possesses the
capability to provide a qualififed, secure avionics package within the
required 13 month program schedule. LAC has extensive experience and
expertise in UAV control and avionics and was awarded the MIAG
specification and Advanced Development Model (ADM) contract
competitively by the UAV JPO in Fy90. Maturation of the MIAG ADM has
continued through cooperative efforts involving the UAV JPO, ARPA, and
