Clift, Contracting Officer (703) 305-8399; The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) intends to exercise Option Year 2 under Contract 50-PAPT-4-00009 with Reed Technology and Information Services, Inc. (RTIS) for continued performance commencing February 15, 1996. This contract provides photocomposition driver and database tapes used to publish the Official Gazette and print granted patents. RTIS is the only firm that can provide continued service beyond February 14, 1996 and exercise of the option is in the best interest of PTO. PTO has conducted a market survey and found that their are several firms that possess the technical expertise to possibly provide these services in the future. As a result of the market survey, PTO intends to begin efforts to resolicit for these services. PTO anticipates releasing a draft Request for Proposal (RFP) or Functional Requirements Document (FRD) for industry comment by July 1996. Release of the draft RFP or FRD will be synopsized in the Commerce Business Daily. (0024)
