Box 25046, MS 204A, Denver Federal Center, Denver, CO 80225 66 -- UPGRADE OF VARIAN XL300 300 MHZ NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE
SPECTROMETER SOL 6-6033 POC Donnarene M. Lewis, Contracting Officer,
(303) 236-5900 x321 Purchase to include installation of new console and
new computer workstation to upgrade existing Varian XL300 300 MHz
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) narrow bore Magnet and Varian XL 300
Generation III 5mm and 10mm broadband probes. Upgrades shall be able to
operate existing Varian XL300 300MHz narrow bore NMR magnet and
existing Varian XL300 Generation III 5mm and 10mm broadband probes
(15N-31P) in the execution of all modern liquid phase one and two
dimensional multinuclear NMR experiments with variable temperature
capability, including COSY, HET2DJ, HETCOR, INEPT, DEPTGL, APT, and
ACOUSTIC. The System Radio Frequency (RF) Console shall include
Broadband transmitter, 30-122 MHz, 282-300 MHz, Heteronuclear and
homonuclear spin decoupler, 2H internal Autolock, Industry standard
eternet host and acquisition interface, Industry standard VME bus,
Multiplexed pulse controller with hardware time, 100 kHz spectral
width, 512-Kbyte table (256/128 Kwords in 16/32 bit), Programmable
filters (200 Hz to 51.2 kHz), 0.1 Hz offset resolution in low band, 0.2
Hz in high band, indirect detection module, 13 Channel Shim Power
Supply. System shall accommodate WALTZ decoupling modulator and filters
for indirect detection. Computer workstation shall be capable of
storing, processing and plotting existing NMR data acquired on Varian
Version 6.1C VXR software. RF console and computer system shall be able
to perform pulsed field gradient indirect detection experiments
(15N-31P) and spin lock experiment such as ROESY. As a minimum the
computer workstation shall consist of 150-Mbyte 1/4 inch tape drive, 3
1/2 inch 1.44-Mbyte External Floppy Disk Drive, 644-Mbyte External
CD-ROM Drive, 16 Mbytes memory, 535- Mbyte internal hard disk. Vendor
shall provide a LaserJet printer/plotter 8 1/2 x 11 inch, 600 dpi laser
printer. Provide one year warranty on new computer workstation,
operating software, and new console. Shall be able to provide full
service maintenance contract on console, computer system, probes, and
existing magnet upon expiration of warranty of upgrade equipment.
Vendor shall demonstrate their ability to provide service on Varian 300
MHz magnet and generation III broadband probes. Shall be able to
provide indirect detection probe that can be operated by the NMR
system. Upgrades shall be compatible with existing equipment and
upgrades shall not jeopardize existing service contract on the existing
equipment. Delivery is F.O.B. destination within 30 days after contract
award to the U.S. Geological Survey, Water Resources Division, National
Research Program, Arvada, CO 80002. Prototype equipment shall not be
accepted. Solicitation will close on or about 3/22/96. All responsible
