Andrle, 202/334-3224. The Transit Development Corporation's Board of
Directors met in Washington, D.C., on December 8 and 9, 1995, and
selected the following new projects for the Transit Cooperative
Research Program in fiscal year 1996: A-15, Development of Transit
Capacity and Quality of Service Principles, Practices and Procedures;
A-16, Developing a Dynamic Transit Signal Preemption Capability Without
Deteriorating Network Traffic Flow; A-17, Joint Trackage Use of Light
Rail Transit and/or Diesel Multiple Unit Transit with Freight
Railroads; A-18, Effective Programs and Techniques to Reduce Bus
Accidents; A-19, Merging Operations for Schools and Rural Providers: A
Manual of Best Practices; B-12, Update the ``Traveler Response to
Transportation System Changes'' Handbook (DOT-FH-11-9579); B-13,
Assessment of Marketing Techniques for Small Transit Organizations;
C-10, Transit Bus-Related Research; G-5, Management Practices at
Smaller Transit Systems; H-12, Integrated Urban Models for Simulation
of Transit and Land Use Policies; J-8, New Paradigms for Public
Transit. Project statements inviting proposals for research on most of
these projects will be issued in mid 1996, and research will begin at
the end of 1996. Project Statements will also be available on the
