28 -- LOW RATE INITIAL PRODUCTION BUY OF 29 F414-GE-400 ENGINES POC Contact, Charlotte Moore, Phone (703)604-6100 The Naval Air Systems Command has a requirement for the procurement of approximately 29 Low Rate Initial Production F414-GE-400 engines (or such other procurement quantities as Congress may authorize and fund) and associated F414-GE-400 requirements. The engines will be delivered in FY98 to support delivery of the first Low Rate Initial Production lot of F/A-18E/F aircraft in FY99. The Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate with General Electric Aircraft Engines (GEAE), located at 1000 Western Avenue, Lynn, MA 01910, the designer and developer of the F414-GE-400 engine. GEAE is the only known firm possessing the specialized experience and technical capability to provide the requirements within the time period. This synopsis is for information purposes only.
