The U.S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals for removal and replacement of the roof at the Chula Vista, CA Main Office. The project includes but is not limited to repairing and replacing of approximately 58,500 sq. ft. of area of the existing roof with a new built-up roof and insulation. Includes removing and reinstalling varous roof top equipment, removing all existing roof materials, roof vents, insulation, and flashing, renewing coping, flashing, counter-flashing, etc. Existing roof sealant, to be removed during demolition, has been found to contain non-friable asbestos. The contractor removing this material shall be certified for removal of asbestos materials. The contractor shall pay for and obtain all required building and related permits. Estimated Range is $200,000 to $300,000. Minority Subcontracting Goal is 8%. Contractor must submit a copy of the required license and have successfully completed a minimum of 3 similar roofing projects of this size within the last 3 years. Contractor must be able to perform on site, with its own organization, work equivalent to at least 12% of the total amount of work to be performed under the contract. Offers will not be publicly opened. The number of offers received, amount of any offer, identity of offerors or relative standing of offerors will not be disclosed until after contract award.
