Library of Medicine (NLM) requires the services of a Contractor trained
in hand book and paper conservation techniques, to work on-site, at the
National Library of Medicine, for a minimum of 17 and a maximum of 100
hours per month, to perform repairs to paper and bindings in the rare
book collection; construct phase boxes, portfolios, and other
housings; prepare materials and record keeping for off-site
conservation and microfilming; and design and construct supports for
exhibit of materials. Demonstrated training and experience in hand
conservation treatments and evidence of ability to work independently
and to make appropriate decisions concerning treatment of early books,
manuscripts, and graphic works on paper are required. Request for
Proposals (RFP) Number 96-102/DJH will be issued on approximately March
