Linda Shariati (301) 975-5053 The National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) intends to obtain Registry Processing Services for
22,500 Chemical Structures from Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS),
Columbus, Ohio. NIST will submit the Chemical Structures to CAS in the
form of MOL files in self-extracting files on PC floppy disks -- or by
ftp transfer from NIST computers -- each structure will have a unique

CAS numbers and names. The Chemical Abstract Registry Numbers are
copyrighted by CAS. The ability to issue CAS numbers and to confirm CAS
numbers resides with CAS. NIST requires delivery of the data within 60
