The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plans to competitively award a single contract to provide software engineering support services and software maintenance support services to the twenty (20) Air Route Traffic Control Centers (including two (2) Oceanic Centers), and the FAA Technical Center, in the spring-summer of 1997. This effort will ensure the continuity of software maintenance support for the Host Computer System, the Oceanic Display and Planning Centers, and the National Airspace System operational software, through planned replacement; and will provide associated software engineering support services. The period of performance for this effort is currently estimated to be seven (7) years. A Request for Comment (RFC) was released for industry comment in late August 1995. The response to the questions from the RFC will be published via the Internet (http://www.faa.gov, then select FAA Gopher, then select Acquisition Information, then select Major FAA Programs, then select En Route Software Engineering Support Services (ES2)) on or about February 2, 1996. Firms participating in the RFC process will automatically be sent a letter notifying them of the Internet publication. Paper copies of the response are only available upon request. Requests for paper copies of the response can be directed to the Contracting Officer (ddooley@mail.hq.faa.gov). Future Request for Proposal (RFP) releases have been delayed.
