This project consists of reconstructing 2,383 feet of the Silvis Lake Trail. Work includes excavating full bench trail, gravel placement, rubble rock trail construction, and installing waterbars, open drains, log steps, rock steps, elevated boardwalk, and a treated timber trail bridge. Use of a helicopter is anticipated for transportation of construction equipment and materials. Equipment capable of excavating bedrock for a full bench trailbed is required. The project is located between Lower Silvis Lake and Upper Silvis Lake. Project site is located 15 miles from Ketchikan, Alaska, along paved and gravel roads. The last 2 miles of road are behind a locked gate and accessible by 4 wheel drive vehicles. The contractor will be furnished a key to the gate for the duration of the contract. The contract is to be completed by September 15, 1996. Price range is between $25,000 and $100,000. All responsible sources may submit an bid which will be considered.
