Service is seeking contractors capable of providing bar code reading
equipment for the Small Parcel and Bundle Sorter. The bar code reader
must be omni-directional, capable of decoding Postnet and width
modulated bar codes (interleaved 2 of 5, Code 39, and Code 128), and
have a twelve inch depth of field. The reader will be mounted over a 20
inch wide induction station belt moving at 157 feet per minute. The
induction station is capable of handling up to 46 pieces per minute.
