B -- PROVIDE SERVICES OF BIOLOGIST TO PERFORM STUDIES WITH MYCOBACTERIUM LEPRAE Sol GWL96-P-0005 due 032596. Contact, Bliss Morris, 504-642-4704, Contracting Officer. Services to perform in vivo propagation of Mycobacterium leprae in mice and armadillos. The Contractor shall be responsible for capture of armadillos in non-enzootic areas for armadillo leprosy. Field trips shall take place during summer and winter months and could take 3 months to collect the desired number of acceptable armadillos. The Contractor shall screen, transport, condition and inspect armadillos prior to in vivo propagation. Fifty-five acceptable armadillos will be utilized annually. The Government will furnish the colony of mice, hormones, breeding stock, lab supplies, media, buffers, adequate cages, feed and a Government leased lab at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La. The period of performance is estimated to commence May 1, 1996 through April 30, 1997 with options to extend for two additional twelve month periods. RFP available o/a February 23, 1996.
