which was listed in the 19 Jan 1996 CBD. The Defense Nuclear Agency
(DNA) will sponsor a series of unclassified Forecasts to Industry on
the current status and future contract opportunities under the
Cooperative Threat Reduction Program (formerly referred to as Safe,
Secure Dismantlement (SSD) Nunn-Lugar Program) for the nuclear
republics of the Former Soviet Union (FSU) (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus,
and Kazakstan). The Forecast will include an overview of the CTR
Program's past accomplishments which resulted in over $460 million in
obligations through FY 95 in some of the following industries: 1)
Heavy/Light Construction Equipment including plasma cutters, intermodal
tank containers, forklifts, oxy-petroleum cutting torches, diamond
cutting blades, steam generators, flatbed railcars - $8 million; 2)
Emergency Response Equipment: radio and computer systems - $2 million;
3) Defense Conversion: $51 million awarded to US companies for joint
business relationships with (FSU) defense firms for civilian production
including: (Russia) Housing production; (Ukraine) cellular telephones,
windows, power station control devices, die casting machinery;
(Kazakstan) telecommunication equipment, pharmaceuticals, printed
circuit boards, pressure vessels; 4) Weapons Destruction Equipment and
Related Activities such as missile defueling, transportation, and
storage equipment; construction of a liquid rocket fuel storage
facility, silo dismantlement integrating contractor; 5) Studies:
evaluation of various technologies for elimination of ICBMs; 6)
Environmental Restoration (Belarus); integration of activities, conduct
technical training and assistance. These are just a few examples of the
many opportunities which have existed under the Defense Nuclear
Agency's CTR program. This year's forecast attendees will receive
information on current and future requirements, projected contract
periods, planned RFP release and contract award dates for opportunities
which are connected in the following CTR Program areas: Strategic
Offensive Arms Elimination (SOAE), Storage and Handling of Weapons of
Mass Destruction, Non-proliferation, and complementary programs. Please
note that Defense conversion efforts were not funded by Congress for FY
96. These Forecasts will be held on 23 Februrary 1996 at the Marriott
Crystal Forum (affiliated with the Crystal City Marriot), 1999
Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22202, and 26 Februrary 1996 at
the Hacienda Hotel, 525 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
Check-in at each location will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m with
conferences beginning immediately thereafter and lasting until 1:00
p.m. Lunch will not be provided at any session. Persons wishing to
