COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 12,1996 PSA#1529U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Division of Contracts, Attn: Linda
Wise MS-7I2, Washington, D.C. 20555 B -- TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN RESOLVING GENERIC SAFETY ISSUES POC Mary
H. Mace, Contracting Officer, 301/415-7314, Sally Adams, Contract
Specialist, 301/415-6588 The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
intends to negotiate a sole source modification with Science and
Engineering Associates, Inc., under Contract No. NRC-04-95-047 to
provide for a 12-month bridge effort for continuation of expert
technical services to assist the NRC in the evaluation, prioritization,
and resolution of designated generic safety issues. This effort is
necessary to avoid interruption in the services provided to the NRC in
relation to resolution of the BWR suction strainer debris blockage
safety issue while the NRC pursues a new competitive contract for these
services with issuance of the RFP anticipated in the third quarter of
FY96. Interruption in these services would impact the NRC's ability to
ensure that the emergency core cooling systems at BWR nuclear plants
will operate as designed and required during a postulated design-based
accident and would also effect the NRC's scheduled evaluation of
licensee actions in regard to this issue. See numbered Note 22. (0039) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0011 19960209\B-0006.SOL)
