58 -- LASER TRANSMITTER SOL F04700-96-T-2745 DUE 030196 POC Donna Chesher, Contract Specialist, (805) 277-3900 x2255 John Lemacks, Contracting Officer, (805) 277-3900 x2253. The Range Division requires a neodymium laser with yttriium aluminum garnet (nd:YAG) transmitter for the laser detection, measurement and analysis systems support, to be used for reference calibration laser and spotting laser for forward ground control. The laser transmitter shall be capable of providing a uniform pulsed beam of coherent radiation. This laser transmitter shall consist of a laser head, a power supply and a cooling unit. The laser transmitter must be capable of being externally triggered and powered from 120 volts AC or 28 volts DC. The transmitter must be capable of providing a stable output over extended periods, temperature variations and shock in desert conditions. The entire laser head is required to be hermetically sealed to protect the optical elements. It is also necessary to provide a means to continuously vary the output energy from its maximum output to one third of its maximum through a manually adjustable beam splitter or polarizing filter. A beam collimator is required to ensure a uniform beam quality and achieve a beam divergence less than or equal to 0.6 milliradian (mr). The laser shall be a Nd:YAG flash lamp type laser. Internal pulse repetition rate 1.0 H, 10 Hz and 20 Hz. External trigger transistor-transistor logic 5 volt level trigger from 1 to 20 pulses per second maximum. Pulse width 15 ns +/- 4 ns. Beam diameter 0.25 inch. 100 millijoules (mj) of raw beam energy (5 megawatts at 20 PPS). A polarizing filter or beam splitter attached to the front of the laser head shall be capable of attenuating 80 percent of the input laser energy. A collimator shall be attached to laser head. This collimator shall be no longer than 6 inches, and 1.75 inches diameter. When used in conjunction with the laser head, the collimator shall be able to achieve beam divergence equal or less than 0.6 mr. The collimator shall provide a uniform beam. Dimensions of the laser head chassis shall be no greater than 11.0 inches long, 5.0 inches high, and 4.8 inches wide. The laser shall weigh no more than 8.0 pounds. This laser shall be mountable on a tripod mount or pan/tilt with maximum load less than 40 pounds at 5 inches from tilt table surface to center gravity. When the laser is operated in the 20 pulses/second mode, it shall draw no more than 20 amperes (DC) from the 28 VDC source. A sighting scope with a KG3 filter (a laser eye protection filter) shall be attached to the laser. The power supply shall be an external unit with an 8 foot interface cable between the laser and power supply. The power supply shall weigh no more than 20 pounds. This power supply shall be no greter than 12 inches long, 8.2 inches high and 8.3 inches wide. The input voltage shall be from 28 VDC with a current capacity in excess of 20 amps peak. A line converter is required to convert 120 VAC to 28 VDC. The cooling unit shall be a continuous operation and liquid cooling unit. Dimensions of the cooling unit shall be no greater than 6.8 inches long, 7.0 inches wide and 7.0 inches high. The cooling unit shall weigh no more than 10 pounds. A commercial operating and maintenance manual shall be provided with the laser transmitter. SIC Code is 3663. Size standard is 750 employees. Desired delivery is 45 days after receipt of order. Simplified acquisition procedures will be used in the solicitation and award of this contract. Only written quotations will be accepted. The anticipated award date is 25 Mar 96. All offerors interested in receiving an RFQ must fax in their request by 1 Mar 96, Fax number (805)258-9689. Telephone requests to be placed on the mailing list will not be honored. (0043)
