58 -- 5835 - SPARE ROTARY HEAD SCANNER ASSEMBLIES SOL N00167-96-R-0024 DUE 032996 POC Roger N. Branstiter (301)227-2310. The purpose of the proposed acquisition is to purchase up to eighteen (18) new spare Rotary Head Scanner Units and up to eighteen (18) refurbished spare Rotary Head Scanner Units. The proposed Indefinite Delivery, Requirements type contract, will have a period of performance of five years. The proposed contractor is Datatape, Inc., 360 Sierra Madre Villa, Pasadena, CA. It is the intent of the Government to issue a sole source procurement to Datatape as the items being acquired under the proposed contract are subassemblies for state-of-the-art High Density Digitial Recorders (HDDR). The spare scanner assemblies must be compatible with the existing HDDR's. The HDDR's were provided by Datatape, and only Datatape has the process and equipment to test and pre-align the spare scanners for direct installation into the HDDR's. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be issued on or about 29 March 1996, with receipt of a proposal due 30 days thereafter. See Note 22. (0043)
