66 -- PORTABLE COMBUSTIBLE GAS INDICATOR FOR HYDROGEN SOL N65540- POC Jim Winward, Code 9533, (215) 897-8783. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Ship Systems Engineering Station, is seeking general information from manufacturers of portable combustible gas indicators that can safely measure explosive mixtures of hydrogen in air or oxygen rich environments. The indicators sought are required by the Navy to replace existing Military Specification Mil-I-2703B, Type B, indicators which are obsolete and no longer available. The indicators sought should have safety and performance characteristics similar to Mil-I-2703B requirements for Type B indicators. Mil Spec requirements which are excessively stringent, outdated, or inappropriate for commercial equipment may be disregarded. This is not a request for proposal and does not commit the government to the award of a contract. Any comments provided may/may not be included in a formal solicitation. The government will not pay for any information received in response to this request now will the government compensate any respondent for any costs incurred in developing the information provided to the government.
