COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 14,1996 PSA#1531Argonne National Laboratory, Building 900, Industrial Technology
Development Center, 9700 South Cass Ave., Argonne, IL 60439 A -- COOPERATIVE RESEARCH PARTNERS SOUGHT FOR RADON MITIGATION DEVICE
POC Shari Zussman, Manager of Outreach, 708-242-5936. Argonne is
seeking industrial collaborators for a cooperative research and
development (R&D) project. The project will focus on optimization and
commercialization studies related to a unique radon mitigation device
that is based upon a recent Argonne discovery of a new fluid-based
process that removes radon from air with high efficiency (three patents
pending). Tasks for the industrial collaborator will focus on the
commercialization, optimization, and mass production aspects of this
new radon mitigation innovation. Argonne is under agreement to develop
the device for use at two U.S. government facilities. If successfully
developed, it is expected that the device will have market
applications in a variety of residential, government, mining,
commercial, and industrial settings for the reduction of radon
concentrations in air. Argonne's contribution to the research project
will be approximately $200,000 of Argonne effort in the first year. It
is expected that the industrial partner will contribute a similar
amount of cash and/or effort to the project. No government funds are
available for the industrial partner's share of the R&D. Interested
companies may request more information by writing to Radon
Collaboration Manager, ITD-900, Argonne National Laboratory, 9700 S.
