Contracting Officer, Matt T. Verhulst, (216)838-6068 A/E services are
required for preparation of complete working drawings, specifications,
cost estimates, related studies, a construction submittal register,
and construction period services. A/E project team to include a
certified industrial hygienist (CIH) for the development of asbestos
abatement plans and/or lead based paint abatement plans, if necessary,
as well as monitoring of either type of abatement during construction
for Project Number 96-1270, entitled ''Nuclear Medicine/Cardiology
(W)'' at the Cleveland VA Medical Center (Wade Park Unit), located at
10701 East Boulevard, Cleveland, Ohio 44106. Project work includes
designing for relocation of very heavy nuclear medicine therapy
equipment and renovation of targeted space to accommodate the operation
of the equipment and nuclear medicine service. The A/E will need to
provide a structural design to reinforce the existing floor slab,
possess electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical and structural
competencies, and adhere to JCAHO and Life Safety Code requirements.
The Estimated Cost of Construction (ECC) is between $500,000.00 and
$1,000,000.00. The duration of the A/E design is approximately 120
calendar days with construction period services to be pre-negotiated
but optional on a case-by-case basis. Joint venture or firm/consultant
arrangements will be considered and evaluated on a demonstrated
interdependency of the members to provide a quality design effort.
Responses must be received no later than the close of business,
2/29/96. A/E firms which meet the requirements in this announcement are
invited to submit a completed SF-254 and SF-255 to Matt T. Verhulst
90C(B), at the address shown above. This is NOT a request for proposal.
Selection will be based upon the following factors respective of the
scope identified above and upon the A/E having qualifications in
design, construction, and general building remodeling of hospital
facilities, particularly floor load analysis and accompanying design
experience: (1) team proposed for this project; (2) previous experience
of team proposed for this project; (3) proposed design approach for
this project; (4) location and facilities of working office(s); (5)
cost control; (6) estimating effectiveness; and (7) schedule control.
This acquisition is unrestricted as to business size. SIC 8712 applies.
