The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is seeking sources for a barcode printer to print style 3 of 9 barcodes on the margin of a web of printed material. The web speed is approximately 600 FPM. The orientation will be picket fence and the print quality resolution must be superior so that a scanner (barcode reader) can decode the information on subsequent processing equipment. The equipment must demonstrate the ability to communicate serially with an IBM compatible personal computer and be able to change the message for every repeat length (approximately 20.88'' - .2 seconds). We are seeking a system that can meet these specifications. All interested firms shall provide a technical description and approximate price and if the item is on the GSA schedule.
