Francis, USAF, Fax No. (703)696-8401, SN96-03. The Advanced Research
Projects Agency (ARPA) will host a briefing to industry to be held at
GRC, Inc., 1900 Gallows Road, Room 0083, Vienna, Virginia on Friday,
March 1, 1996, from 9 AM-12 PM. ARPA is currently assessing the
feasibility and mission application of Micro Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
(MUAVs). Vehicles with the greatest characteristic dimension at less
than 15 cm. The purpose of this forum is to bring together members of
industry, educational institutions, small businesses, and government
research and development organizations for a briefing on current
findings and a discussion of key development areas, related
technologies, and military applications. Background: An ARPA-sponsored
workshop was held in November, 1995 to assess the technological state
of the art, understand the relevance of defense applications, and
collect data required to underpin a Micro Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
Program. The results of that workshop have increased interest in
further examining the feasibility and role of MUAVs in future military
applications. This present industry-wide forum seeks to solicit
feedback from participants on numerous related issues including system
concepts, enabling capabilities, and critical technologies necessary
for successful MUAV development and demonstration. In addition to the
broad industry-government-university participation expected,
representatives of small businesses are encouraged to attend
specifically because of the relevance of this topic to future Small
Business Innovation Research (SBIR) programs. Participation will be
limited to two individuals per organization. No special clearances are
required. There will be a $3.00 per individual cash registration fee
collected. Due to the need to provide adequate accommodations for this
forum, please respond no later than February 26, 1996 by fax with the
names of two attendees to: ATTN: ARPA/TTO, MUAV FORUM, Colonel Michael
