Reference Commerce Business Daily Issue of December 11, 1995, PSA #1487 ``DoD Avionics Technology Development Approach (TDA''. The Director of Defense Research and Engineering (DDR&E) tasked the Army, Navy and Air Force laboratories to develop jointly a strategy, called a Technology Development Approach (TDA), for guiding Department of Defense science and technology efforts in implementation avionics. Technologies included are avionics architectures, signal and data processing, integrated Electro-Optics, integrated RF, and information management. The TDA will be used to guide technology development for the next decade. Industry participation is sought to help develop and critique the strategy. The purpose of this announcement is to obtain participation of DoD contractors in the development of the TDA. This is not a solicitation and no funds will be provided for participation. Associated costs will not be reimbursed. Participation means requesting, receiving, reviewing and providing comments on the TDA. The government is under no obligation to incorporate all received comments. Participation is restricted to current DoD contractors. Participants are under no obligation to submit comments after review. The schedule for developing the TDA requires a first draft to be available to industry and service operational customers in the January 1996 timeframe. Target date to incorporate industry and user comments is March 1996 with the final plan to be available in April 1996 to government and DoD contractors. The plan is intended to be a living document that will be updated annually. Comments are due NLT 1 March 1996. The TDA will be distributed by IBM compatible diskette only.
