Specialist, 301/402-3080. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has
a requirement to purchase One (1) Automotive Work Station. The
equipment shall be utilized as a front-line triage and diagnostic
system for motor vehicle maintenance and repair. This Diagnostic
Workstation shall be a complete stand alone system and shall provide
for turn-key operation, and shall have the following characteristics:
* PC based platform with an Intel 80486-DX2/66 microprocessor, or
better and to include the following minimal characteristics: * Super
VGA, non-interlaced 14'' color monitor, .28mm dot pitch * 16MB of RAM
(random access memory) * 270 MB hard drive * 1.44MB floppy drive *
Light Pen * 9600 baud fax/modem * 6-disk CD player * User friendly
software to direct/guide service personnel through maintenance,
troubleshooting, and repair algorithms. * MicroSoft Windows 3.1 based
motor vehicle diagnostic application system with ''Help'' function. *
MicroSoft Windows version of Mitchell ON-DEMAND service information
system for motor vehicles. * Multi-function programmed test selections
to aid diagnosis. * Multi-function probe kit to include the following
at a minimum: * Primary ignition voltage and tachometer probe *
Volt/ohm probe * Battery voltage * #1 cylinder inductive probe * Coil
Wire KV Probe * High current probe * Low current probe * Frequency
probe * Technical support via modem for remote troubleshooting of
difficult situations * 5 year warranty for: 1.Hardware 2.Software 3.OEM
updates 4. Mitchell Library updates * CPU upgrade to current levels
available within first 5 years. The NIH intends to negotiate with
Computer Aided Services, San Jose CA. 95112, under the authority of FAR
6.302-1 for this requirement. This is a not a formal solicitation.
However, firms responding to this notice must furnish concise responses
directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources
demonstrating the capability to accomplish the above shall supply
pertinent information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability
to perform a proper evaluation. Interested parties may submit adequate
data by which to evaluate capabilities to the attention of Ann Bryant,
