The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute intends to negotiate with Medrad, Inc. Industrial Park, 271 Kappa Manor II, Pittsburgh, PA, for the purchase of a Medrad Spectris Magnetic Resonance (MR) Injection System with Pedestal Head Mount Model #SMR200. The unit must be able to function reliable in high magnetic fields up to 1.5 tesla without causing distortions of the MR images due to electronic noise or RF leakage. In addition, the MR injector needs to be able to be triggered by the technician while the individual is operating the MR scanner away from the patient in the control room in order to trigger the bolus injection at an appropriate time during the MR data acquisition. It should include a display control unit, head control unit, dual headed injector with stand, battery charger, two (2) battery packs, cabling, instruction manual, training and a two (2) year warranty. The injector should have variable flow rates from .1cc to 10 cc per second and be able to deliver 60 cc or contrast. It also should have variable flow rates for saline flush from 0.1 to 10 cc per second as well as keep vein open feature which delivers .5 cc every 30 seconds for greater that one (1) hour depending upon amount of flush solution present in system.
