214/819-7294. The new Roanoke Main Post Office is a 13,500 square foot
postal facility. It consists of painted concrete tilt-up walls, steel
framing, bar joists, metal deck, and a two-ply modified bitumen roof.
The front entry, carrier platform and truck dock canopies are
prefinished standing seam metal roofs. The paving is concrete. Interior
finishes are painted drywall, VCT, carpet, acoustical lay-in ceilings,
fluroescent light fixtures, wood doors, and vinyl wall coverings. The
site is located approximately two miles east of I35-W on State Highway
114, in the City of Roanoke. Estimated cost range $850,000 - $1,100,000
and construction time is 240 calendar days. Successful offeror must
submit their Subcontracting Plan for Small and Minority-Owned, and
Woman-Owned Business initially and thereafter with their progress
payment requests. The contractor must subcontract with minority
business firms in an amount aggregating not less than 10% of the total
value of its subcontracts. A 20% proposal bond is required on all
proposals. The successful contractor will be required to provide 100%
Performance and 50% Payment Bonds. Offers will be received in this
office, prior to, but not later than 3:30 p.m. on March 12, 1996.
Proposal documents, plans and specifications will be available on
February 12, 1996 at a cost of $125.00 per set (NON-REFUNDABLE) payable
by check or money order only. Requests for packages shall be forwarded

ARCHITECTS, INC. Since this is a request for proposals, offers will not
be publicly opened. The number of offers received, the identity of the
offerors, the amount of any one offer, or relative standing of offeror
will not be disclosed to anyone until after award of a contract is made
and the request is submitted in writing. Plans may be inspected at the
issuing office and any questions and/or information regarding this
