16 -- DEVELOP A TACTICAL AIRCRAFT MOVING MAP CAPABILITY SOL N00019-96-R-0024 POC Contact, Rene Y. Thompson, Phone (703)604-2968 The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) proposes to procure the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD), integration and production of a Tactical Aircraft Moving Map Capability (TAMMAC). TAMMAC will consist of a Digital Map System (DMS), an Advanced Memory Unit (AMU), a High Speed Data Bus, and a set of memory cards. TAMMAC will be designed as the standard digital map capability for Naval Aviation. TAMMAC will replace the AN/ASQ-196 digital map set and the AN/ASQ-194 data storage set presently installed in the F/A-18 and AV-8B and will provide a mapping capability for aircraft not presently equipped with a digital map system. The contract will be sole source to McDonnell Douglas Aerospace (MDA) Division of St. Louis, MO 63166-0516 for EMD units for the F/A-18, AV-8B, AH-1W, UH-1N, V-22, F-14D, and HH-60H aircraft; integration of TAMMAC into the F/A-18 and AV-8B; and LRIP units and spare units for the F/A-18 and AV-8B aircraft and other aircraft where necessary. TAMMAC integration effort will consist of performing aircraft level physical (electrical, mechanical and cooling) and functional integration and development of the aircraft mission computer operational flight program software necessary to exercise TAMMAC functionality. MDA is the only contractor who has the knowledge, experience and technical data required to successfully design and integrate TAMMAC into the F/A-18 and AV-8B Weapon Systems, the dual-lead aircraft for TAMMAC.
