A -- LAND MINE DETECTION DUE 031196 POC Dr. Thomas Broach, 703-704-1035 The US Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM), Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD), Countermine Division is seeking sources who have technological solutions for detection of land mines of all types; constructed of metal, plastic or wood, under all types of weather conditions, in all types of terrain. Ideally, this technology would be suitable for mounting on handheld, vehicle or aerial platforms. The technology must be capable of detecting 95% of targets, or better, with a false positive rate of no more than 10%. The technology must be capable of detecting targets on the surface and up to 8 inches below the surface. Priority consideration will be given to those technologies which can be fused with other technologies in a ''system of systems'' approach. Mature technologies or those that can be brought quickly to maturity, i.e., suitable for production and deployment before November 1996, will receive priority consideration. Highest priority will go to proposals offering technology which can be deployed the earliest. Priority will also be given to those systems which provide a stand-off detection capability for operators of the detection systems. This IS NOT a research and development effort. The technology should be suitable for fielding in 90-150 days after contract award. To identify and select vendors capable of supporting this requirement, government personnel will evaluate and test the technologies at Fort A.P. Hill, VA. Testing will be during the period 18-22 March 1996. Offerors must be able to deomonstrate their system at Fort A.P. Hill to verify performance. While all submittals will be evaluated, candidates with high potential willing to provide transportation and demonstration AT THEIR OWN COSTS may be given a priority test schedule. Successful systems may be quickly procured in limited numbers for immediate use in bosnia. Those interested in participating should respond to the following address: US Army CECOM RDEC NVESD, ATTN: AMSEL-RD-NV-CD-MD (Dr. Tom Broach), 10221 BURBECK ROAD SUITE 430, FORT BELVOIR, VA 22060-5806. Offers to participate will be accepted until 11 March 1996. All interested parties capable of demonstrating a system with the required performance characteristics are encouraged to respond. Response should be no longer than five pages and inlcude a description of the system and proof of availability for testing at Fort A.P. Hill, VA, and a concept for use and application of the technology and which platforms are suitable for use. Offerors must be willing to demonstrate their system without government furnished property. Government will provide test range and targets. Technologies requiring financial assistance to obtain transportation to the test site, or other considerations, will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. (0047)
