Contracting Officer, (407)381-8818 The U.S. Simulation, Training and
Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) is searching for sources capable of
producing a commercially available, computer controlled, propane system
which safely replicates flames, heat, and reduced visibility during
residential, industrial, and aviation fire fighter training. The FFTS
must be certified to meet Environmental Protection Agency and various
agency safety regulations. System components will consist of burn
buildings which will house structural training systems and burn pits
for aircraft rescue fire fighting training systems. The FFTS must
create a realistic training simulation of generic Class A, B, and C
fires and provide an artificial, non-toxic smoke with consistent and
repeatable executions controlled and monitored from an operator
console/interface. The system shall have the capability for a safe and
rapid shutdown of fires in the event of a training emergency.
