Lockheed Martin Research Corporation and acting for and on behalf of
the U.S. Government as represented by the U.S. Department of Energy
under its Prime Contract Number DE-AC05-84OR21400 is offering for sale
U.S. Government-owned surplus cesium and cobalt radioactive by-product
material which has no defined nor planned future use. This material was
used as an irradiation source in a below-ground irradiation unit. By
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) definition, this material is
``by-product material'' in the form of ``sealed sources'' (10 CFR
30.4). The material consists of thirty-three (33) weld-sealed stainless
steel pins, approximately 0.5 inches in diameter and 12 inches long,
presently stored in four storage cans with press fit lids. Twelve (12)
of the pins contain cesium sources (about 360 Ci each); twelve (12) of
the pins contain cobalt sources (about 12-20 Ci each) and nine (9) of
the pins contain cobalt sources (about 50-60 Ci each). The
documentation for the pins is limited since they are about 30 years
old. As far as is known, the pins were fabricated at Oak Ridge National
Laboratory from U.S. Government materials. To express an interest in
