Point, Jae Pak, Contract Administrator, (303) 220-6541. The US Postal
Service, Denver Facilities Service office, is soliciting qualification
statements from contractors desiring to be placed on a prequalified
list for the construction and/or design-build of new postal facilities
in the state of Utah and/or Nevada. Prequalification applicants can
select between: construction and/or design-build projects for the state
of Utah and/or Nevada. Several projects have been identified for the
current and upcoming fiscal year, and contingent upon site
acquisitions, the potential projects are: West Jordan, UT; Spanish
Fork, UT; Orem, UT; St. George, UT; and two facilities in the Las Vegas
NV metro area (the Postal Service reserves the right to add or delete
projects as necessary). The projects range in size from 18,000 sf to
36,000 sf, and estimated construction costs of $1.5M to 2.75M. The
projects will vary in construction materials/systems since they may be
either design-build or 100% design documents, but in general they will
consist of either synthetic stuccor & metal studs, CMU, tilt-up
concrete with veneer, or a combination thereof; steel structural
systems, and a single-ply roofing membrane. Construction and/or
design-build completion schedules vary from project, location, and time
of year, but are usually 6-8 months for construction and 8-10 months
for design-build. Interested firms may submit, but must clearly
indicate in the prequalification application, for any or all of the
project types and states referenced above. Construction contractors
will be evaluated on the following criteria: a) minimum five years
experience as a prime general contractor; b) owner's references; c)
successful completion of projects of similar size and scope; d) other
criteria listed in the prequalification application. Design-build
contractors will be evaluated on all criteria for construction
contractors, plus: a) completed two or more successful design-build
projects of similar scopes and dollar ranges as projects indicated
above within the last three years; b) have license to perform
architecture/engineering (A-E) services in the states where projects
are located (these capabilities may be consultants to the prime general
contractor); c) provide proof of previous working relationship in a
design-build team with the A-E firm(s) proposed for design; d) current
workload and capacity in relation to the company resources; and e)
other criteria listed in the prequalification application. Interested
firms must obtain a prequalification package, which will be available
at no charge. This package may be obtained upon written request to the
above address, Attn: Jae Pak. Submittals must be on, or in the exact
format of, the approved USPS Contractor Prequalifcation Forms contained
in the prequalification package. Completed package must be received no
later than close of business, March 8, 1996. Prequalification
statements will be evaluated by a USPS committee, and all firms will be
advised within 60 days of receipt of their application as to
prequalification status. Firms selected as being the best qualified
will be placed on the prequalification list for a period of one year.
As projects are identified and approved for implementation, the
prequalified contractors will receive Request for Proposals for
specific projects. This is not a Requests for Proposal. Submittals will
not be returned. (047) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0160 19960221\Y-0001.SOL)
