This specification covers a portable multi-voltage, multi-frequency and polarity indicator. The indicator consists of a hand-held instrument incorporating visible means of recognizing voltage, frequency, and polarity with safe means for energization from electric circuits. The portable indicator is one unit for indicating voltage for direct current (d.c.), voltage and polarity, 60-Hertz (Hz) alternating current (a.c.) voltage and polarity, and 400 Hz a.c. voltage and polarity.
