This is a sources sought announcement only. A solicitation will not be issued as a result of this announcement. A new CBD announcement will be published if a solicitation is developed. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station is seeking potential sources to provide lead acid starved electrolyte batteries for a through water propulsion system under development for the Navy. Phyusical specifications of the batteries must be as follows: (1) Battery space size 16.5 inches long x 7 inches wide x 7 3/4 inches high (2) Amp hour rate of 60 Ah minimum (3) 12 Volt deep cycle starved electrolyte lead acid (4) Total battery weight not to exceed 50 pounds (Total weight of batteries if connected in parallel to reach needed AMP-Hour rating). Requirements may be met by using a single battery or any combination of batteries in parallel as long as the physical specifications are met. Initial requirement is estimated to be approximately 126 units during the first year of performance. A minimum of an additional 252 units will be required in each of the following five years. Interested firms are asked to respond within thirty days of this Sources Sought announcement with complete and detailed documentation showing the company's ability to meet the requirements for this potential procurement. Please comment on your ability to provide the indicated quantity of batteries both initially and in subsequent years. Please also provide recommended charging procedures along with data on the maximum amount of hydrogen that could be discharged from these batteries in worst-case scenario (i.e., battery cell shorting).
