70 -- TAC-5 DRAFT REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS SOL N68939-96-R-TAC5 DUE 060196 POC Contact Point, Contracting Officer, Mr. David Berry, 202/433-3181 The Department of the Navy will be issuing a Draft Request for Proposals (DRFP) for the Tactical Advanced Computer 5 (TAC-5) acquisition. TAC-5 is the 5th in a series of contracts to support mission critical and administrative programs by providing workstations, servers and associated peripheral equipment, software, maintenance, and training for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and other DoD activities. This DRFP is currently planned for release to industry in March 1996. The Navy will be utilizing the WWW server and a TAC-5 Bulletin Board System (BBS) for use in downloading the Draft RFP and final RFP. The WWW server is the primary means by which the government will make the RFP available, with the TAC-5 BBS system as the backup. The address for the WWW server is http://204.254.216.31. The telephone number for the TAC-5 BBS is 202/433-3360. On the BBS, the TAC-5 Draft RFP is located in ''TAC-5 Public Files'' area. The documents contained on the WWW and the BBS servers are in MS Word 6.0 in a Zipped compression format (PKZip Version 2.04g for the PC and Zipit version 1.3.4 for the MAC). Hard copies will not be mailed. Interested vendors can dial in access to the BBS to download the Draft RFP. If a vendor cannot access the BBS and is interested in being added to the TAC-5 Bidders List (BL) the vendor should address their request to the Naval Information Systems Management Center, Bldg. 176-5, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC 20374-5070, Attn: David Berry, Telefax request for addition to the BL will be accepted at 202/433-6442.
