The Sensor System Division of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Patuxent River, Maryland has a requirement for self calibrating Portable Magnetic Tape Recorders/Reproducers. The Portable Magnetic Tape Recorder/Reproducer Systems and associated equipment include the following categories: Storehorse Tape Recorders; Storplex Delta Recorders; and Word Safe Maxima Recorders. In accordance with FAR 6.302-1 only one responsible source and no other Supplies or Services will satisfy the agency requirements. Racal Recorders, Inc. produces a Storehorse Tape Recorder, Storplex Delta Recorder and Word Safe Maxima Recorder that contain a unique self calibration feature that allows each recorder to rapidly calibrate itself prior to flight without de-installing it from the aircraft. The process of self calibration will save the Government an extraordinary amount of time and money by eliminating the need to pull the entire recorder out of the aircraft to perform the calibrations manually. Therefore, this acquisition shall be negotiated on a sole source basis with Racal Recorders, Inc., 15375 Barrabca Parkway, Suite H-101, Irvine, CA 92718.
