National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH),
has a requirement for the development of a retrieval engine to sort and
retrieve a number of different types of ICIC records, including:
treatment statements, protocols, CANCERLIT, etc. The system needs to
provide retrieval services for multiple types of client programs,
accessing data through the World Wide Web, Fax, E- mail, and Telnet. In
order to perform this work the contractor must show: 1) extensive
knowledge of the PDQ and CANCERLIT databases, 2) good working knowledge
of UNIX operating system, 3) knowledge of ORACLE Test Server 3, 4) a
good working knowledge of the International data base structures of PDQ
and CANCERLIT, 5) experience developing applications for World Wide
Web, 6) extensive experience with ''C'' programming language and
bibliographic data and computer applications, and 7) extensive
experience understanding the internal representation of data in
different compilers. The RFQ will be available on or about March 14,
1996, and written quotations, along with descriptive material showing
organizations capabilities will be due on or about April 12, 1996. All
responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by
