COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 29,1996 PSA#1541Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, 2531 Jefferson Davis Hwy,
Arlington, VA 22242-5160 99 -- CORRUGATION OF COMMON MARINE MATERIALS (METALS) SOL N00024- POC
Greg D. Woods, 703-602-0775, Ext. 116. METALLIC CORRUGATION
FABRICATORS - POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT The Naval Sea Systems Command is
conducting a market survey to determine the existence or interest of
sources who possess the capability to form corrugation of one or more
of the following common marine matrials, e.g.. steel, aluminum and
titanium alloys. Current corrugation gauge thicknesses of interest
range from 0.025 inches to 0.1875 inches. Height of the corrugations
will vary from .75 inch to 5 inch deep. Such corrugations are usually
formed by press brake or roll former. The average minimum tensile
strength of corrugation material before formed is 50 KSI(345MPA). The
US Navy Laser Welded Corrugated Core (LASCOR) Structures Technology
Program has matured to the point that serious consideration is now
given to whether there currently exist metallic fabricators with full
production capacity to form corrugations over a range thickness.
Potential US Navy ship applications for corrugations are bulkheads,
ramps, platforms, deckhouses/superstructures, large doors, foundations,
conflagration stations, etc. Sources interested in bidding on future
job(s) for production of corrugations as specified within the range
cited above should respond that you are interested and address what
impact/considerations must be given to enhance your current capability
to accomodate your interest in full production. Additionally, all
interested firms should provide pertinent information concerning
current in-house capabilities and practices, quality assurance
procedures, production quantity, years of experience, current principle
product line, and mode of operation (i.e., press brake and/or roll
former). Firms are invited to submit documentation responsive to the
above in sufficient detail to Mr. Greg D. Woods, COM (703) 602-0775,
Ext. 116, not later than April 8, 1996 to SEA 03P1, Naval Sea Systems
Command, National Center Bldg. 4, Washington, DC 20362-5160. This
announcement is a request for information only and is not a request for
proposal (RFP) or announcement of solicitation. Response to this
announcement is on a voluntary basis; the Navy neither intends to award
a contract on the basis of this request nor to otherwise pay for
information provided. (0058) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0418 19960228\99-0006.SOL)
