NOAA intends to issue an order to the International Map Trade Association (IMTA) to allow the agency to take part in a market survey being conducted for a consortium of map and chart producers that will determine the needs of the mapping and charting community. IMTA is the only firm to be solicited because it is the only alliance of map dealers and therefore the only organization capable of orchestrating such a project. In addition, agency specific survey questions can easily be adapted into the planned survey. Proposals demonstrating firms capabilities received within 15 days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be used to determine whether or not to open the requirement to competition. It is anticipated that award will be made within the simplified acquisition threshhold. (0058)
