The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will be conducting full and open competition for consolidated NASA Space Operations services. These services support NASA Spaceflight Operations and include operations, maintenance, and sustaining engineering for worldwide space networks; telecommunications systems; mission and network control facilities; data processing and planning systems; and direct mission support. It is the intention of NASA that a long term contract approach be in place for the period beginning Fiscal Year 1998. The consolidated approach will be managed by the NASA Space Operations Management Office at the Johnson Space Center. The Space Operations Management Office will be hosting a Space Operations Technical Outreach Forum prior to development of the Request for Proposal (RFP) and Statement of Work. The purpose of this event is the discussion of contractual and technical approaches to the consolidation of NASA Space Operations services and the solicitation of industry input. The Space Operations Technical Outreach Forum will be held in Washington D.C. on March 21, 1996 in the NASA Headquarters auditorium. Attendance will be limited to two representatives from each commercial business unit. Attending organizations will have the opportunity to comment on the NASA portion of the briefing or discuss their own ideas in an open forum. A second meeting will be held prior to the release of the RFP to further clarify Space Operations activities and to solicit further contractor input.
