FAA Acquisition Reform has been undertaken in response to Section 348 of the 1996 House Appropriations Act for the Department of Transportation. This section directed the FAA to ``...develop an acquisition management system that addresses the unique needs of the agency and, at a minimum, provides for more timely and cost-effective acquisition of equipment and materials.
